We went down to my inlaws on Friday night. It was a secret mission to give him a surprise party on Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. The whole family had been planning his party for weeks. Invitations were sent out right after Christmas (to minimize the possibility of discovery), my mother in law would phone Cheryl from the bathroom and talk in a whisper, real spy stuff. Cheryl planned the menu, buying most of the food from a nearby meat market. Anyway, we picked up the food on Friday evening on our way down to their house. We called and my mother in law pretended that she did not know we were coming down. We came down there and I got the birthday boy to take me to Walmart for something unimportant so that Cheryl could bring the food into the house. With that accomplished, the next morning, my father in law and I went to Starbucks for breakfast, then to Menard's and then to another store. By that time, it was time to return for the party, so a faked a reason to go back to his place. We walked in and there was a "Happy birthday" banner and not only was his oldest son and family there, but his younger son and family from Tennessee were there. Within minutes, many people showed up to wish him a happy birthday and many continued to come throughout the day. Finally, to make his birthday special, his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers, won a big playoff game. Here are some pictures of the party and video of Laura shaking hands.
