We left Thursday afternoon after we went to the hospital to do alittle work, ran to the office, picked up our car after it was in the repair shop most of the week. We finally got started hours later than expected. We went to my parents to have Little Caesar's pizza. We drove to Chicago late to find out that the pool was closed. We played in the room.
I caught the early morning train to the Avenue Hotel in down town Chicago while Doug took the kids to Elmhurst. I took a taxi to the hotel after I got of the train. Good conference. I came back. We went out for real Chicago Pizza. The kids loved it. We played in the waterpark. Emma kept changing her drawers. Ping was scarred to death of a huge bucket of water with a Myan head on it that kept dumping water over the kidde section every ten minutes. Laura loved every minute of the water. I took all of the kids on the Lazy river...everybody liked it until they were squirted with water.
Saturday, I went to the conference. We were caught in BAD traffic in BAD weather in Chicago. It took us 2 hours at least to get out of metro Chicago. We went on some of the back roads. There was flooding with roads closed, cars stranded. The kids didn't like it. We went back to my parent. Celebrated my birthday with chicken dumplings and chocolated cake. My parents got me a gift certificate to a movie and were willing to watch the kids. I hope that we find a good movie to see.
On Sunday, we ate breakfast of donuts and then went to Hoards Dairy Museum to see an exhibit on hunting ducks in Fort Atkinson. It was interesting. We went through the old house there. There were many taxidermied animals. The kids loved it.
We had lunch at the Pine Cone-truck stop... comfort foods. One of my favorite restaurants. I had chicken dumpling soup and ruben. The kids had a smorgasbord of three kiddie meals.
We came home. I made pierogies with home made alfredo sauce and sweet corn. I made a whipped cream cake with whipped cream frosting. It was very good. Doug asked what made it so rich... a pint of heavy whipping cream.
We made cucumber heads with there Mr. and Mrs. Potato head accessories.
Bath and then bedtime.
