Siblings

The kids are really becoming like siblings. When Jonathan Hudson came home and met his older sisters, things did not go well at first. Lots of fighting, with Jonathan quickly understanding that he was going to the front of the line (at least for awhile). Our twins did not really want him around at first and it was difficult for all for many months. In all fairness, Jonathan really did not understand what was happening to his him. The world that he knew was gone forever, and in its place he had a mama and baba and two older sisters. His pecking order was different now. In the last several months Emma and Jonathan have really bonded, rough housing, fighting, taking toys from each other. Sometimes we intervene, but usually not because they are taking the toys from each other to gain the attention of the other. Emma even has a pet name for him, "Ping" which was part of his Chinese name. Laura, who is usually quiet and prefers to look at books, has also begun to accept him more. Sometimes the two of them will draw on the chalk board together. Tonight, after our membership class at church (hey, its been 5 years, we think it is time to join) as were were chatting with our pastor, Laura and Jonathan laid on the floor and mimicked each other. In many ways, it has been both unstablizing for our family (at least at first), yet also enriching for ourselves as parents and for our daughters. Hey, at the very least, Jonathan can cast the deciding vote which nursing home mom and dad can go to.
