next update

We left Nanchang yesterday. It was bittersweet. We would be leaving the province that Hudson was born in. He will not return for many years if at all. We have been with a great travel group and guide.

We had a nice dimsum lunch at the hotel our last night in Nanchang. We got up early on Saturday morning. We had our typical western/chinese buffet. Hudson likes orange juice and melon and cereal.

We rode a bus to Nanchang airport. We boarded without incident. Hudson slept on the flight.

We arrrived in G.  at the White Swan hotel on the Pearl River. It is a beautiful hotel --5 star.  Our room is nice. We had supper at Lucy's after wondering around Shamin island for several hours in the evening. Doug had hamburger and I had pasta.  Hudson munched on cookies/crackers.

We had a big buffet this morning then we went to a buddist temple 6 tree temple.  We watched a baby blessing ceremony run by the monks. Interesting..I kept thinking that the temple looked like the house on the Rocks. Big pagota. Then we went to the Chen family temple which has been convereted into a local folk art museum. It was given ??to the state in 1959.  There were exhibits on laquer furniture, ivory carving, a french painter, and a silk. It was originally built as a place for ancestor worship, family business, and an academy for children to learn to pass the  emporer exams.

We went to a 'arts and crafts center'.. Very nice, very expensive, very goverment supported.  Afterwards, I went shopping on Shaimain island.  I bought some clothes for the Hudson and souveniors.

We went out to supper as a group. I had steamed pigeon. Hudson would not eat anything at dinner. Had a fit. Then he wanted to eat the pigeon head. Dont ask me what goes through the mind of a two year old.

He is saying ooohhh, oppps, oh big boy. He can parot anything you say.....

He is determined, happy, raging at times. Very curious into everything. He thinks that flusing th toilet is big stuff.

Keep thinking about us. Hudson has his medical exam tomarrow and Visa pictures.....
